 What was your inquiry purpose/problem?

  • Was I extending my learners in reading?

  • My target group was primarily extension + learners that fit into those “groups”


What practice change/s did you apply?

  • Questions that made them think - both response to text + follow up texts

  • Follow-ups were similar so that they were practicing the same skill for multiple weeks, just for different texts


What measurable outcome was there?

  • Running Records/PROBE (mid-year + EOY)

  • Observations in groups 

    • What was their discussion like? One word answers or sentences?

    • Are they able to answer the questions I have given them?

    • What do their follow-up tasks look like?

    • What do their blogs look like?

  • PAT Comprehension

    • Stanines between 5 & 9

  • STAR

    • Stanines between 5 & 6

  • Engagement in guided reading groups + engagement in independent work


What might you take into next year?

  • Using the same questioning

  • Keep discussing with experts + coworkers

  • Routines

  • Repetition

  • Expectations visible + verbal

  • Tell learners their progress
